Everyone’s in Sales
OK, so you really think you’re not in sales? A lot of people think that because their job title, classification or degree of interaction with people face to face or on the phone isn’t directly sales, then they’re not involved in sales!!
You Salesman, You!!!
Lets examine this thinking in business, home, friendships, coaching, civic roles etc, as you can see the list is endless. It’s our mindset that needs to accept that “sales” is everywhere.
1. Ok, it’s not on your job description. But how do you interact with your your boss & co-workers?
At some point you have to get a point across. This involves selling!
2. You’re married, how do you convince your spouse to agree with your suggestions, if you have kids the same applies?
3. Friends, how do you agree on which movie to see?
4. The team you coach, scouts, guides etc, how do you get them to co-operate with you?
5. How about your civic roles on the School Committee, Rotary, Lions, Special Interest Associations etc, how does your point of view get accepted?
Guess What, I Think you’re in Sales!!
You may not think you’re in sales, but you’re really are. So once this realisation is accepted and internalised, then there’s no need to worry about it. Just remember to be yourself and make a personal effort to learn more about selling, then all the above will fall into line and life gets easier.
